Never got around to using the lathe last night, because my hands were sore from working on the rug. Here's a picture of it so far:
Haven't played around today yet because I spent the morning running around shopping. It was all little stuff - I had to hit about four stores. Had a spindle with me in line at Wal-Mart, anyway. One lady was watching me intently, but never said anything. While I was out, Airborne Express delivered my Shopsmith accessories (a screw center and a tailstock "live" center for the lathe). Last night they called and said the delivery person reported I didn't have a valid address (news to me - my bills find me just fine!). Today (with some assistance from the detailed directions I gave) they found me just fine. Now I can't wait to go play with the new accessories!
Stopped by my friend Pam's house on the way home, for a piece of scrap hickory (more spindle whorls, coming up!) and my Christmas gift from her - shown below:
I've been looking at several of these shawl patterns for some time, and love them! There are more at Fiddlesticks Knitting. I'll be starting this one this afternoon! My photography, as usual, is not great, but the yarn is a lavender color. Purple is never a wrong choice, in my opinion!
